The beat
My subject is regulation and money rather than games. I follow the Finnish reform under which a licensing system for online casinos and sports betting is due to open in 2027, with supervision passing from the National Police Board to a new licensing and supervision agency. Alongside that I follow what the current situation means in practice for someone who is already a customer of an internationally licensed operator: taxation, dispute routes and the fine print of the cashier.
Game content interests me only where it contains something checkable. Return to player and volatility are numbers printed in a game's information panel; a hot streak is not a number at all. I write about the first kind.
How sources are used
Regulatory claims rest on official sources: Verohallinto for tax treatment, the National Police Board and the agency now being set up for supervision, Peluuri for help services. Claims about the operator rest on the operator's own published terms and on what the cashier displays. Where a figure comes from campaign terms, the page says so, because campaign terms change without notice.
Where something is uncertain or still in preparation, it is written as uncertain. Phrases such as «under the current plan» and «due to» are precision rather than hedging: draft legislation is not presented as a rule already in force.
What is never published here
- Player testimonials attached to names and towns — they cannot be verified.
- Betting systems, staking plans, or claims about when a game is due to pay.
- Licence numbers I have not seen in the issuing regulator's own register.
- Bonus figures without stating that they come from campaign terms.
Why one platform rather than a hundred
A directory of a hundred brands is out of date within a week, because payment line-ups and bonus terms move constantly and nobody re-checks a hundred entries. Covering a single platform makes it realistic to notice a change and to correct the page with a dated note, instead of leaving an old sentence quietly in place. That is the whole argument, and it is a practical one rather than a philosophical one.
What I am not
